Multi-talented Brazilian techno producer Gui Boratto is releasing his new album Take My Breath Away at German label Kompakt on the 5 March. On 25 January Gui gave us a ”must-have-this-album” feeling when tracks Azzurra, Telecaster and The Glam was released in digital format.
We think the techno Gui Boratto produceses really fits well on a Sunday evening. And of course we want to share our Sunday feeling with all of you following this blog. Let these beats take you away. You won’t be sorry.
The Dada Life remix on Finnish trio MVSEVM, first release of Discobelle Records, first single French Jeans got a fantastic respons on the internet. No wonder since it’s a real killer. Yesterday we were sent the original mix of the track as a way to ”give something back” to all the great respons they got on the Dada Life Remix.
Listening to the original mix it’s not hard to understand how it’s possible to create really great remixes of this song. The track just got a really nice happy feeling to it with a easily digable bassline and great vocals.
It’s not every day that we bring you some dirty hard electro any more. But then there are times when we just forget all about that smooth, funky discohouse, italo disco and french house. We all need some other tunes everynow and then. Belgian The Subs is nothing smooth. The Subs is hard, dark electro with equal amounts of punk and techno in them. Their recent track Mitsubitchi is a real sticker to the head. After just one listen it’s like you’ve always heard it.
But sometimes dirty isn’t dirty enough, hard isn’t hard enough. Then you can let Bob Rifo of the Bloody Beetroots remix your track. The remix by Bobermann on Mistubitchi just takes it one step further. Brace yourselfs (Try not to destroy anything if listening indoors)
VIS À VIS is a funk, electro project started in 2008 by Tiffany Lee. Electronic music has always been influating her life and she has played a lot of instruments. But it wasn’t until the electro scene started to grow again a couple of years ago that the dj:ing and producing started. We just had to ask this up n´coming Brooklyn producer where she finds the inspiration for the music.
I’m really inspired by 70s and 80s bands that incorporated a lot of electronic elements in their music while still retaining that ”physical aspect” with real instruments. ”Too Young for the 80s” sort of reflects on how I’m legitimately just too young to have really experienced that era in full – all I’ve got now are CDs and videos. I’m also inspired by all of the electronic music out right now. The scene is definitely burgeoning… new artists get exposed all the time and become everyday household names faster than ever.
I really just want people to love the music as much as I enjoy making it. Its definitely a more organic genre than a lot of people like to think. As long as people keep dancing, I’m just fine with that.
VIS À VIS is currently in the process of producing original songs and remixes for an upcoming EP release in 2010. We are eagerly longing for more from VIS À VIS.
It’s friday. And it’s a wicked nice friday. And it’s the fantastic Lisbon-based Discotexas collective that brings the party. Moullinex (yes with two L’s nowadays), Xinobi and Rockets bring you the most addictive electro-house you can imagine on the release Forbidden Cuts Vol 1. And they give it away for free (you can pre-order the good old vinyl version as well)! This is just the beginning of a great 2010 from the Discotexas crew. Moullinex has been signed on Gomma for an album release later this year and Xinobis Day Off 12″ being released on Work It Baby. And we can’t wait! But while we wait, we dance!
Australian Modular has a number of amazing artists on their lable. Artists like Ladyhawke, Cut Copy and Bag Raiders has been frequently blogged all over the world. Now it is time for The Swiss.
From the first time we heard the The Swiss we were absolutely certain that this trio produced by almost legendary producer Donnie Sloan (Empire of the Sun & Sneky Sound System) have world domination potential.
Hailing out of Adelaide The Swiss are a legit live disco band consisting of Luke on synth, Tony on bass and Sid on bass. According to the band them self they are a band who’s existence is based entirely on flavour and good times.
On the 5th February they release their first EP, called Bubble Bath, on Modular. On their Myspace the EP is described as ”a testament to what lies at the core lifestyle of The Swiss: crisp and snappy drums, quicksand laser-sludge bass, dizzy pops & flourishes, melody rays and synthesised strings that glide on the thermal currents of life.” It has already gained appreciation from people like Erol Alkan and Sinden.
With about a week left to the release we got hold of Tony from The Swiss and asked him about the up-coming EP, Modular, playing live and influences.
TAjT: For all of those who yet doesn’t know anything about The Swiss, who are you and why are you called The Swiss?
Tony: When we started playing we were very cheesy and we named ourselves after a country famous for cheese.
TAjT: On your Myspace it’s said that ”in a time when everyone who isn’t Crookers is claiming to be a disco act, there is an insurmountable wash of pretenders.” What do you mean and what’s unique about The Swiss?
Tony: We are all musicians, we are better at playing our own music on guitars, synths and drums than we are at DJing other people’s.
TAjT: In January you will be releasing your EP Bubble Bath. In the intro to the titel track we can’t help to get vibes from Australian native instruments. In what way would you say the native music of Australia has influenced you?
Tony: Well there is some great aboriginal music in Australia but I don’t know if we are consciously influenced by it. Maybe the natural rhythms of the wide brown land. We do listen to a lot of Ausralian music from the 70s and 80s – listen to Flash and the Pan, which was a project of the guys who recorded the ACDC albums.
TAjT: What other influences do you have when creating new music?
Tony: We get excited when we hear new music, or old music that’s new to us. Usually music from different genres to what we play – deep house to heavy metal, if it’s different and clever it will make us want to get in the studio and write and play
TAjT: You are working with producer Donnie Sloan who has also worked with Empire Of The Sun and Sneaky Soundsystem. What has Donnie brought in to The Swiss?
Tony: Donnie has been with us since the beginning, we worked together in previous bands and projects. He has the midas touch in the studio. He helps with arrangements and puts his magic in everything we record.
TAjT: The Swiss are claimed to be a brilliant live act. What can we look forward to when we go see you guys live?
Tony: We get booked for 45 minute sets and if they let us we usually can’t stop playing for at least an hour. Once people realise we aren’t going to sing and we arent going to stop, it gets very sweaty, the crowd get involved and everybody dances all night.
TAjT: On the subject of live music . Is this where most of your music is created or do you like to go into the studio to focus from time to time?
Tony: A lot of our stuff stems from live shows, it can be difficult to translate the energy that works live into a recorded song, which is a big part of what we do with Donnie.
TAjT: You’re releasing Bubble Bath on Modular which has really placed Australia on the map as a country with great electronic music. What has the Modular ”family” of artists and producers ment to you and to Australian music?
Tony: The are a great group of people and a natural fit for us – everybody in the Australian music scene knows each other and we are all a big family. Bands like the Presets and the Avalanches and Cut Copy are so important to the sound and I don’t think it’s a coincidence they all wound up being with Modular.
TAjT:TAjT is an electronic dance music blog with the purpose to promote music that makes us want to dance. Then of course we want to know what makes you dance.
Tony:Big bass lines, lots of high hats, DFA stuff, old stuff, new stuff
TAjT: It is the beginning of a new decade, what do you look forward to during 2010?
Tony: Coming to play some shows in Europe!!!
TAjT thank Tony and The Swiss for the interview and wish you guys the best possible 2010. We hope to see you in Sweden soon.
And now, enjoy this stream of Bubble Bath, then go pre-order the full EP at the Mod Shop.

Cécile & Venice are two Italian producers with a love for synth strings, electro beats and baroque music. About a year ago they released the two beautiful tracks Requiem and White Holes which both have a unmistakable classical baroque feeling to them. At the same time they are extremly catchy electrosynthtracks with a beautiful bass.
A couple of weeks ago our collegues over at Too Many Sebastians posted their new track Rimmel. The track is featured on Gomma‘s(yes we love them!) Dance Tracks E.P. 2 which was released 8 January. Rimmel has a bit more synthisized nu-disco sound to it which makes to a really catchy track.
Cirez D, one of many acronyms for Swedish house god Eric Prydz, is bringing all of his fans another incredible track. It has sky rocketed on the Beatport charts and you’ll understand why when you listen to it. As Cirez D, Eric Prydz tends to go more techno and Glow is no exception. Dark yet snappy and with a fantastic bassline this track is sure to light dancefloors on fire. As always when it comes to a Cirez D track, this track is released on Eric Prydz labelMouseville. Buy the EP containing Glow on Beatport and get the lovely remix by Sebastien Legér on On Off as well!

And yes we posted a stream because we think you should…
Yes that was exactly what happened last night when the Russ Chimes remix of Ellie Goulding track Starry Eyes spread all over the promotional blogs of the internet. So we admit that TAjT wasn’t on our feet to pick this up in it’s initial craziness. After listening to the track we agreed that it doesn’t matter. We have to post this one. It’s a hit. A huge hit!
A quick update on Ellie Goulding for all of you who need it. Ellie (birthname Elena Jane) is a 24-year old singer/songwriter from Hereford, UK with family from Wales. She was introduced to electronic music by Frankmusik during her years at the university of Kent were she studied drama. During the fall of 2009 she toured the UK supporting Little Boots. Recently she won the BBC Sound of 2010 and recieved the Critics Choice award at 2010 BRIT Awards. 1 March her full lenght album Lights will be released on Polydor. Starry Eyes is the second single from that album and is to be released on the 22 February.
Starry Eyes is some of the more up-tempo tracks from Ellie Goulding. With Russ Chimes magical touch and great understanding of how a good beat is done it is sure to make every dancefloor go crazy. If, against all odds, it is the first time your hear this track here at TAjT. We promise you that it’s not the last time (well at least if you don’t live in a cave somewhere).
