What happends when one of our favorite vocalists gets edited by one our favorite producers? Well you might’ve guessed it, it’ll be totally awsome! The vocalist, Robyn, has with her recent album made it clear that she’s one of the most briliant artists ever. The producer, Fred Falke, has one time after the other made already great tracks even greater with his remixing skills.
In this track Robyn isn’t dancing on her own. In this one she’s dancing with Fred. And it’s one hell of a dance. Dancing on my own is one fabulous track and with some magic from Fred it’s even more danceable! I love it!
So, earlier this year Robyn anounced she’s releasing three mini-albums in 2010. A press release today revealed the track list and promo video for the first one, Body Talk Pt 1.
Robyn explains: ”I got all these great songs so why not? It’s been 5 years since ”Robyn” and I didn’t want to wait with a release until they are all recorded, so I decided to start putting them out right away. I also can’t wait to play live again and this enables me to tour and record at the same time. I just want to keep making music.”
Robyn – Fembot
Among the tracks there’s the robo-rap track Fembot, her collab with Diplo- Dance Hall Queen, and the Swedish folk song Jag vet en dejlig rosa that Robyn performed at a tsunami memorial in 2007. Body Talk Pt 1 is supposed to land on June 7th together with the single Dancing On My Own. We’re really looking forward to see what this is evolving into. It can’t be anything less than great!
1. Don’t Fucking Tell Me What To Do
2. Fembot
3. Dancing On My Own
4. Cry When You Get Older
5. Dance Hall Queen
6. None of Dem
7. Hang With Me (acoustic)
8. Jag Vet En Dejlig Rosa
Thanks to Skipster I found this collab between Robyn and Diplo a week ago. As always with set-up leaks, the quality of sound could have been better. But that’s not an issue when Robyn at last is back with some new stuff. Except from her remix of El Perro Del Mar and a couple of collabs (with e.g. I Blame Coco and Röyksopp) she hasn’t produced anything since the last edition of Robyn was released in 2007. We, who have been waiting, will soon be rewarded. There will be a new album later this year and hopefully a tour for the North European audience. Until then, listen to this reagge tune with a 90′s smell.
I always find it difficult to sum a whole year in tiny lists. How could I possibly be just to all of it? All sweaty dance floor memories. All nice day-dreaming together with my iPod. Each and every moment I’ve spent with music. As always I ended up with almost as many remixes as the year got days. Fortunately or ufortunately, it depends on how you look at it, many of them wasn’t from 2009 at all. The ten that made the list are the stunning breathtakers I’ve spent the last year with. I hope they will give you as much pleasure and trips as they’ve given me. Enjoy.
10. Munk – Back Down (Cut Copy Jackmaster Remix)
After 1.22 the almost epic synth loop starts and there’s nothing more to say.
9. Annie – My Love Is Better (Sunkh Knight Remix)
As I wrote earlier this month, one of last year’s most longed for albums was Annies Don’t Stop. This remix by Sunkh Knight is a fresh dub version that strengthens the tounge-in-cheek lyrics in a kind of blasé way.
8. Calvin Harris – I’m Not Alone (Deadmau5 Remix)
A unfortunate coincidence made last summer’s most huge storm get in my way the night I was supposed to see Deadmau5 at Melt Festival in Germany. So, instead of dancing to this remix six o clock in the morning, I tried to stop my tent blowing away over the German fields. At least I wasn’t alone and after all this is a great remix.
7. David Guetta & Estelle – One Love (Calvin Harris Remix)
Last week me, and my two best friends on earth, played some music at a christmas party. I was a bit rusty and we weren’t lucky with the technics, but when this remix reached the dance floor there were just happiness all over.
6. Bertie Blackman – Black Cats (Shazam Remix)
Shazam made it tomy list of 2008with the remix of Ashton Shuffle’s Stomp Yo Shoes. This time there is more of disco than funk and I’m weak. Especially for the intro, but also because of the voice of amazing Bertie Blackman.
5. The Whitest Boy Alive – 1517 (Morgan Geist Remix)
A funky french tune became a floor filler produced by Daft Punk. The Whitest Boy Alive got inspired and Morgan Geist remixed there version. Dängbra as we say in my hometown!
4. El Perro Del Mar – Change Of Heart (Rakamonie Remix)
Rakamonie aka Robyn has made a marvellous remix of Swedish El Perro Del Mar. It’s so new I haven’t fetched any memories to it yet, but it’s clear that Change Of Heart went straight to my remix heart.
Amanda Blank is one of my favourites of 2009. It started with thecollaboration with Yuksek at Extraballand went even better when her album I Love You was released this summer. Shame on me is one of my favourites. Especially in Yuksek’s astounding dream away remix.
It’s like this remix is an good, wise and comforting friend from the past. I can’t explain it or even understand it myself. Perhaps that’s why Fred Falke is one of my personal favourites. Ever. (Don’t forget to read our interview with Fred Falkehere.)
A true best remixes of the year list must contain a real dansgolvsvältare (translation: tune that overturnes the dance floor). This is that tune! This remix is made for sweaty, non-stop dancing. Yuksek was, without competition, best live act of 2009. Turn up the music and dance as if it was your last dance. This is stunning!

We all know she’s multitalented. We all know she’s an extraordinary artist. Now she’s also a remixartist. Under the pseudonym Rakamonie, Swedish Robyn has produced her first ever remix. She has turned El Perro Del Mar”s song A Change Of Heart into a fantastic electro-pop hit. And we like it! A lot.
Rakamonie is also the name of Robyn’s EP released 2006 containing, among others, hit songs Cobrastyle and List Of Demands.
