TAjT is all about enjoying and dancing to great electronic dance music. TAjT is sweat, smoke, strobe, disco lights and animals. On July 17th TAjT will bring all their energy into one incredible night at Arvikafestivalen. With them this night is disco house phenomenon Louis La Roche.

Arvikafestivalen asked us some questions about the club night:

What can we expect from TAjT at Lyran?
You can expect a dance party that probably will require fans to dry out all the sweat the day after. Luckily we’re last. Togheter with the best summery house music there is we (and you 400 something lucky ones that fit in to Lyran) are going to dance like there’s no tomorrow.

We will turn Lyran into a disco palace with all what that means of smoke machines, strobe lights and other wicked electronic stuff. And if you’re one of those Simian Mobile Disco fans you could also come pre-partying with us to get that blood pumping before their concert.

Why should we come by and dance with you?
You know that perfect festival night when it feels like you’ll never what to go home. Instead you want to do everything at the same time. It’s the last night and you could either go home feeling like you’ve missed something when your friends go ”Shit, you should’ve been at that TAjT club, it was fabulous” or…you could go there with them having the best night ever.

Will there be any guests with you on stage?
Only the best is good enough so we’re bringing Louis La Roche on stage for an exclusive set. It will be absolutely stunning. We’ve loved everything Louis did since we heard him the first time a year ago. We’re suckers for energy filled disco influenced house and Louis is bringing it!

Name a track that we with out doubt will hear at the club
If you’re in to stuff like Duck Sauce, Grum, Fred Falke, Kris Menace, Leonardus, Cassian, Munk, The Twelves and Chromeo you won’t be disapointed. And Louis La Roche of course, but since we’re having him here we’re going to let him play his tracks.

Okey so we have to choose one track? Well then it’s got to be Punches track Let Go which is a fantastic disco track from a briliant up-coming group.

Name a track that we won’t hear.
We don’t want to close any doors here but it’s unlikely that we play any metal or goa trance. At least we won’t try to mix them. Our rule here is, if we don’t want to dance to it, we won’t play it.

Louis La Roche
Louis La Roche is the guy that when ”releasing” his track Love (the track leaked onto the blogs) back in 2008 provoked speculations that it was a side project by none other than Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk. More recently Louis La Roche has been called the reason that the old 90′s genre filter house (aslo known as french house or disco house) is having a revival. And we can only agree.
Since the release of The Peach EP Louis La Roche has brought some incredible, danceable and funky house into the music scene. Listening to his music and live shows you will experience some 90′s nostalgia, mixed togheter with 70′s disco and funk vibes and blended right into a great 2010 club track. It’s old yet new, It’s rough yet soulfull, It’s smooth yet you want to dance like crazy.

Togheter with a few others at the Crydamoure label the talented duo also had a ”jam group”, called Crydajam, which that very same glorius year (2002) released an 12″ EP. If You Give Me The Love You Want was one of the disco inspired tracks on that one.

The past year he has provided slamming remixes and singles for labels such as Tribal Vision, Spiral Trax and Plastik Park, gaining support from DJs such as Tocadisco and Eddie Halliwell, as well as reaching a top position in Beatport’s Progressive House Chart.  We’re honored to have had him at TAjT last winter. TAjT: In Sweden there’s a small town called Grums, we guess you didn’t chose your name with that in mind. So, why Grum?
Grum: Haha!  Well, my real name is Graeme…and Grum started out as some sort of nickname.  I foolishly decided to use it as my artist name and now I’m stuck with it.  People seem to like it though so its not too bad.  I need to come and visit Grums one day and have my picture taken next to the sign ;)

You’ve named a track Hearbeat and your lable is called Hearbeats. What does the beating of a heart mean to you?
The beating of a heart is very important to me.  If it didn’t beat I’d be dead. Then I couldn’t make music. Disaster.

You’re from Linlithgow in Scotland. What from Scotland do you bring into your music?
I’m not sure geographical location has such a big impact on music now because of the internet.  The music my parents listened to has definitely had a strong effect though.  I obviously tried to bring the bagpipes sound to my work but it didn’t really work out.

During 2009 you were one of the most blogged artists on Hypem. How do you think the mp3-blogs have affected the electronic music industry? Will it affect your future work in any way?
Well, for better or worse they are here to stay.  From my point of view they have been an amazing help in getting my music out.  It seems that labels are starting to embrace them too, rather than just shutting them down, so hopefully we can all reach a kind of happy medium.

Are there any exchange between you and the mp3-blogs that make you create better music?
Well I sometimes like to check some blogs which post obscure old disco and stuff like that, so that music has probably had an influence on me.  So yes, I think they have helped me create better music.

Italo-disco and french house tracks has really been booming the past year and it doesn’t seem to stop. Do you think we’re in desperate need of something more funky after some years with a lot of dirty hard electro?
I think this is exactly it.  Tracks with more musicality and feeling seem to be coming back into popularity, which I really like.  Hard electro was fun for a little while but things always go round in circles.

You remix a lot and a lot of people does remixes on your tracks. What track would you like to remix and who would you like did a remix on you? You can chose anyone, living or dead. Why where these your choices?
I’m a bit obsessed with Stevie Nicks stuff justnow so I’d have to say I’d love to remix ’Stand Back’.  This is probably an obscure choice but it would be really cool to hear an Arthur Baker remix of one of my more poppy tracks, digging his remix of Fleetwood Mac’s ”Big Love” right now!

You’re extremely productive. How do you do it? Are you always inspired?
I think I have reached a point where I can find inspiration quite easily.  I’m on a roll right now with my music and it seems to be getting easier and easier to come up with ideas.  I work on original music and remixes every day so I like to just keep going!  I’ll burn out soon and end up in rehab with a massive coke addiction.

Okey, then what gives you the inspiration to produce a new track?
It can be various things…sometimes the way I’m feeling about something can jsut inspire me to right.  OR maybe I want to create a feeling with the listener.  Or sometimes I just find a really cool sample that inspires.  But usually I like it to sound cool and sexy.

Could you describe that feeling when a track is complete.
Oh that’s a great feeling.  I usually listen back to it over and over until I’m totally happy with it.  And like to play it to other people to see their reactions!

Your single Can’t Shake This Feeling got great response. Tell us about the Grum-sound of the new decade.
Yes indeed.  Its quite a disco house style track but radio friendly at the same time.  It started out as a bit of a nod towards old Crydamoure house, such as Le Knight Club.  Really excited about it – we’ve got some amazing remixes.

My sound is moving in a more pop direction but it will always retain the dance element, I think.  I like to draw on older influences and make that stuff work today.

Last question, TAjT is an electronic dance music blog with the purpose to promote music that makes us want to dance. Then of course we want to know what makes you dance.
Good question.  I usually dance to anything if I’ve consumed enough alcohol.  We dont really have so many cool electro and disco nights outside of London, but I love seeing people like Aeroplane play.  I’ll dance to that!

I love the Brittish Islands at the moment, and it’s all because of what they bring to the disco house / french house scene. We’ve been dancing our feet of to sweet groove of Grum, the funky greatness of Louis La Roche and the smashing remixes by Russ Chimes. Here’s another rising star in the genre. His name is Bobby Analog and he’s hailing from Portstewart in Ireland. He’s been performing since 2002 but it was only now that he got our attention. With his EP Bare Back Jack, dropping on May 28th*, he’s done some great stuff. The EP was supposed to drop in March but after listening to the tracks I must say that it might been worth the wait.

From the seven track EP I like the promotional track Boppin’ a lot. It really represents the whole EP with it’s energy filled up tempo disco feeling. We also dig the remix by Leonardus on I Want You which blends togheter the greatness of the Dutch and the Brittish disco house scene. Lovely!
