HAJEN: Best of 2009

So, it’s time for our very last post this year. We’re closing the loop with the fourth and last Best of 2009 list. This is my, Hajen’s, best tracks of 2009. Happy New Year dear readers!

10. Rubix – Baiser Sur La Disco (Rubix Refix)

Rubix – disco at its best! I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. It’s a must dance track with a promise of a never ending night at the dance floor. But for God’s sake don’t leave this track for the club nights – use it whenever you need to cheer someone up – at the bus, in school, at work, in supermarket queues. Disco is for living.

9. Duck Sauce – aNYway

This Duck Sauce might not have many similarities with this sweet and sour thing you eat with china food. The mix of A-trak – Armand Van Helden and house/funky disco makes me fall head over heels. And as icing on the cake they have made a marvelous video for aNYway. I say no more.

8. Deadmau5 – Strobe

This track by always genius Deadmau5 doesn’t need an explanation. Listen – and marvel.

7. Amanda Blank – Make It Take It

Amanda Blanks I love you might be one of my most listened albums of 2009. The thousand layers of her deep and smooth voice on simple, but oh so brilliant, bass loop. A perfect clash between electro and hip hop.

6. Fred Falke – Back To Stay

You that read TAjT on a regular basis clearly now what position Fred Falke has got in our, and especially mine. electrified heart. Fred Falke is like the good parts of Midas. Golden like a car ride in winter scenarys, a sunny day by the sea or a smoky, sweaty, slow but energic dance floor at 5 am. Back to stay is the good parts of life.

5. Name The Pet – Get On The Bus

This is one of my favourite dansgolsvältare (translation: tune that overturnes the dancefloor) from this year. I can’t explain why –  my words seems unimportant in the company of Get on the bus. Turn up the volume – the intro says it all.

4. Shazam – Hello Cat

A smooth track that reminds me of Jamiroquai in its best days. Very nice tune!

3. Annie – Don’t Stop

After escaping her last record label and getting parts of her album leaked out, one of the most longed for albums finally came. Annie takes electro pop to a new level with Don’t stop. The title track is a catchy and karaoke friendly one – in a fresh way.

2. Jesper Dahlbäck – Super Connector

Last winter I moved to a collective in Solna, north of Stockholm. This track accompanied me on my way to work all spring.

1. Kris Menace feat. Fred Falke – Electricity

I agree with Surikaten on this. It’s indeed hard to choose one track from Kris Menace debut album Idiosyncrasies. But, Electricity it is. Mostly because it manages to remain easy even though it has a massive fateful image. It’s magic!

BONUS: David Guetta feat. KiD CuDi – Memories

A track that both I and Surikaten really like is this track. A genious collab between Guetta and Kid Cudi, between house and r n’ b. A totally genious floor filler that at least we are going to welcome the new year with tonight.

HAJEN: Best of remixes 2009

Posted in Amanda Blank, Bertie Blackman, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Deadmau5, El Perro Del Mar, Erlend Oye, Estelle, Fred Falke, Jacknife Lee, Morgan Geist, Prodigy, Rakamonie, Robyn, Shazam, The Whitest Boy Alive, What we danced to 2009, Yuksek on 29 december 2009 by hajen

I always find it difficult to sum a whole year in tiny lists. How could I possibly be just to all of it? All sweaty dance floor memories. All nice day-dreaming together with my iPod. Each and every moment I’ve spent with music. As always I ended up with almost as many remixes as the year got days. Fortunately or ufortunately, it depends on how you look at it, many of them wasn’t from 2009 at all. The ten that made the list are the stunning breathtakers I’ve spent the last year with. I hope they will give you as much pleasure and trips as they’ve given me. Enjoy.

10. Munk – Back Down (Cut Copy Jackmaster Remix)

After 1.22 the almost epic synth loop starts and there’s nothing more to say.

9. Annie – My Love Is Better (Sunkh Knight Remix)

As I wrote earlier this month, one of last year’s most longed for albums was Annies Don’t Stop. This remix by Sunkh Knight is a fresh dub version that strengthens the tounge-in-cheek lyrics in a kind of blasé way.

8. Calvin Harris – I’m Not Alone (Deadmau5 Remix)

A unfortunate coincidence made last summer’s most huge storm get in my way the night I was supposed to see Deadmau5 at Melt Festival in Germany. So, instead of dancing to this remix six o clock in the morning, I tried to stop my tent blowing away over the German fields. At least I wasn’t alone and after all this is a great remix.

7. David Guetta & Estelle – One Love (Calvin Harris Remix)

Last week me, and my  two best friends on earth, played some music at a christmas party. I was a bit rusty and we weren’t lucky with the technics, but when this remix reached the dance floor there were just happiness all over.

6. Bertie Blackman – Black Cats (Shazam Remix)

Shazam made it to my list of 2008 with the remix of Ashton Shuffle’s Stomp Yo Shoes. This time there is more of disco than funk and I’m weak. Especially for the intro, but also because of the voice of amazing Bertie Blackman.

5. The Whitest Boy Alive – 1517 (Morgan Geist Remix)

A funky french tune became a floor filler produced by Daft Punk. The Whitest Boy Alive got inspired and Morgan Geist remixed there version. Dängbra as we say in my hometown!

4. El Perro Del Mar – Change Of Heart (Rakamonie Remix)

Rakamonie aka Robyn has made a marvellous remix of Swedish El Perro Del Mar. It’s so new I haven’t fetched any memories to it yet, but it’s clear that Change Of Heart went straight to my remix heart.

3. Amanda Blank – Shame On Me (Yuksek Remix)

Amanda Blank is one of my favourites of 2009. It started with the collaboration with Yuksek at Extraball and went even better when her album I Love You was released this summer. Shame on me is one of my favourites. Especially in Yuksek’s astounding dream away remix.

2. Burns – First Move (Fred Falke Remix)

It’s like this remix is an good, wise and comforting friend from the past. I can’t explain it or even understand it myself. Perhaps that’s why Fred Falke is one of my personal favourites. Ever. (Don’t forget to read our interview with Fred Falke here.)

1. Prodigy – Invaders Must Die (Yuksek Remix)

A true best remixes of the year list must contain a real dansgolvsvältare (translation: tune that overturnes the dance floor). This is that tune! This remix is made for sweaty, non-stop dancing. Yuksek was, without competition, best live act of 2009. Turn up the music and dance as if it was your last dance. This is stunning!

Summering del 2: Shazam

Posted in Calvin Harris, Chromeo, Dizzee Rascal, Shazam on 16 december 2009 by hajen

Posted in Cut Copy, Munk, Shazam on 15 december 2009 by hajen
